What's New at Hook Eye Care?
- Our Staff and our re-imagined exam experience
- Optical Coherence Tomography with our OCT-500
- New frame lines - out with the old, in with the new
our staff - our most valuable resource
Our goal is to treat our patients the way we would want to be treated. If we do that, we feel we will give our patients the best experience possible. We don’t want to JUST provide a service – we want to provide an EXPERIENCE.
We have essentially done away with our former “receptionist” position. Instead, Karen or Melissa will be with you the entire way through the exam experience. They begin by greeting you as you arrive and perform all the pre-exam items to prepare you to see Dr. Hook. While Dr. Hook is examining you, they will act as a scribe and record the necessary data into your encounter chart. In doing so they allow Dr. Hook to give his undivided attention to the details of your ocular health and the precision of your prescription for glasses and contacts.
By being in the room for the entirety of the exam, Karen and Melissa know what your needs are by the end and can help deliver the very best in completing the orders and recommendations that Dr. Hook has directed for you. They help to make sure that we have, in the end, met ALL the needs you have in a satisfactory manner, providing you with a complete and top-notch experience.
Stephanie, our optical specialist, will work with you in the end to find the perfect pair of glasses that will provide you with the right style, the right functionality, and the right value to put the finishing touches on your experience at Hook Eye Care.

OCT - Optical coherence tomography
We have recently invested in one of the best spectral domain OCT machines available. Our new OCT provides Dr. Hook with the ability to see beyond the basic two-dimensional view of the retina. The OCT allows him to be able to see underlying conditions and emerging problems in the early stages of their development. This provides the ability to detect pathology that could be devastating to one’s vision and in turn helps maintain a stable and quality level of vision. Additionally, Dr. Hook no longer will need to refer out of the office for such scans and can now more accurately detect, treat, and monitor several potential conditions to keep them from negatively affecting your vision and ability to see clearly.
new frame lines
We have invested in bringing in more independent frame lines to provide a more diverse selection of frames to make you look spectacular. By resourcing from a wider range of frame manufacturers and vendors, we can provide more choices than just a standard frame that comes in 3 different colors. We've looked for frames that provide higher quality but remain at a reasonable cost, both for those patients who are covered by a vision care plan and those who are not.
